Spring Renewal- New Beginnings
The yin introspective energy of winter is giving way to the yang expansive energy of spring.  The concept of reaching outward while staying firmly rooted is brilliantly revealed with the newly budding trees, plants, and flowers arriving with their vital force pushing to the surface showing their radiant beauty. We too are a part of the microcosm of these universal energies and are internally stirred by the creative expansive nature of spring arriving.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the principles of the 5 elements; wood, fire, earth, metal, and water teach us that all change occurs in these five distinct phases. Each of these phases is associated with a particular time of year, a specific element in nature and a pair of organs in the body.  Spring is represented by the wood element and includes the liver and it’s paired organ the gallbladder. The Liver nourishes and moistens tendons; sinews and eyes as well as the organ associated with the free flow of qi or energy though the body. The liver modulates the intensity of force of all body movement and processes. Keeping “liver qi” free flowing assures a free and easy journey in life. The liver energy is fully activated in the spring making this a time to cleanse, repair and restore our bodies and mind.
The spring awakening is an opportune time to let go of negative behaviors, unproductive thought patterns, and unnecessary clutter, while instead embarking upon new endeavors where goals, dreams and passions can come to fruition.   A renewed commitment to taking care of health of both body and mind can take center stage. Eating foods that nourish, finding ways to move your body that bring joy and taking time to quiet the mind and listen to your inner wisdom though self-reflection and meditation can restore emotional and physical resilience. These renewed commitments to health can help with becoming more firmly rooted, centered and balance. This centered and firmly rooted place then becomes the springboard for taking flight to new possibilities and reaching new heights of personal growth, development and wisdom.
Acupuncture and herbal therapy can restore and renew your body, mind and sprit. Are you ready to soar?
